Hitty is coming to Bolivia!

So, my birthday is on Monday and as a special surprise my kindred spirit, Amanda Leahy, and her momma, Shirley Childers are sending me a Hitty Doll. She is such an interesting and creative present, I can't wait to meet her. Although I'm a little nervous I won't be able to think up a great name for her. This will take some thinking. Anyway, I will be able to take pics of my Hitty in Bolivia and allow her to write about her adventures living with me. I think the first one will have to be getting used to home and meeting the monster, Muffin. :) If you want to follow my Hitty stories, as well as my Hitty's friends, you can check out the site http://www.hittytraveldoll.com/

Thanks Twinkie and Mom - I am blessed to have you in my life!

So, while I should be grading papers, I am instead trying to think up names. I decided to look up some Spanish names, since she will be coming to Bolivia. Hitty Belinda (beautiful one), Hitty Dulcea (sweet one), or Hitty Flor (flower - in honor of my favorite flowering tree down here that just happens to bloom around my birthday). I also thought about some British names - Hitty Agatha (favorite female author), Hitty Effie (based off of Euphemia - well spoken one). Or . . . what about Hitty Alice? Instead of going to Wonderland though, her rabbit hole will bring her to Bolivia. Hmmm, I like that one. I like that one alot. She was my favorite literary character for the longest time. And, I still remember playing with Elizabeth Hall on the trampoline and pretending it was a rabbit hole that would take us to mysterious places. And it seems appropriate, since the new movie just came out as well. Hitty Alice it is. Only don't say it too quickly because it sounds a little like hideous. :P

Nice! One name I found when I was trying to name Hitty Amelia was "Fernanda" which I was very tempted to use. It was what I kept coming across when I searched online for baby names meaning "travel" or "adventure". I think Hitty Alice is perfect. What a travelor she was! Also, Alice is the name of the lady who used to pick me up and take me to vacation bible school when I was really little! :)
